No experience required, best for ages 15+
In this class, we'll be inspired by sticker book tattoos, where unique doodles are collected over time, to embroider on a garment. You’ll learn some simple stitches and choose from a range of tattoo-inspired motifs to create a piece that is unique to you. There will also be an option to work on a cushion cover if you'd prefer. You'll learn the best techniques for stitching on clothing and lots of other tips and tricks for an enjoyable make.
Please bring a piece of clothing made from linen or sturdy cotton (woven fabrics are best and second-hand is encouraged!)
Thread, hoops and a selection of illustrated templates for embroidery will be provided.
Melissa Wastney is originally from Whakatū Nelson, and now lives in Hataitai, Pōneke Wellington. She has been a fan of all textile crafts since childhood.
Melissa has maintained the blog ‘tiny happy’ for nearly two decades, and has taught embroidery and sewing workshops in Aotearoa and Australia.
