The studio is all about creativity, play, and community - safely.

Code of Conduct

To maintain the commitment to creativity, play and community, our Code of Conduct is a core part of running a welcoming and safe space. This looks after you, as participants, and us, as responsible hosts.

The short version:

  • please stay home if unwell

  • toitū te tiriti

  • Rainbow whānau safe space

  • no discrimination based on race, age, disability, religion, body size, gender identity or sexuality

We reserve the right to ask anyone to leave based on these statements.

The long version:

We will have people in our space with health issues that mean they are vulnerable to coughs, colds and contagious illnesses. Please ensure your covid immunisation is up-to-date, along with whooping cough and the latest flu vaccine.

Mish Mash Make is dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive, and harassment-free experience for all participants, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, race, age, ethnicity, disability, physical appearance, body size, and/or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of attendees in any form. Participants violating these rules may be required to leave the studio without a refund at the discretion of the managers or session leader.

Harassment includes, but is not limited to:

  • offensive verbal comments that reinforce social structures of domination (related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion)

  • deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following

  • harassing photography or recording

  • sustained disruption of sessions or other events

  • inappropriate physical contact

  • unwelcome sexual attention

  • advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behaviour.

Participants asked to stop any harassing behaviour are expected to comply immediately. If a participant engages in harassing behaviour, the manager retains the right to take any actions to keep the studio a welcoming environment for all participants, including warning the offender or expulsion from the studio. Managers may take action to redress anything designed to, or with the clear impact of, disrupting the event, or making the environment hostile for any participants. Participants who become intoxicated or otherwise disrupt the event may be removed from the studio without refund. We expect participants to follow these rules at all event venues and event-related social activities (and in everyday life too!).

Health and Safety

Art and craft can come with risks - using sharp knives for a start.

To keep people safe, all sharp implements are kept out of public display. Children’s access to sharp items are determined by age and ability, and use is carefully supervised.

A substantial First Aid kit is on-site, and we have an incident register.

Katie has a First Aid certificate and Tash is on the way to get hers, too.

In the unlikely event of serious injury, we will call emergency services.

Their attention to detail and commitment to quality truly stood out. We’ve already recommended them to others.
